DVD thoughts - deleted scenes, docs?

Hi everyone,

I've just been able to watch my (North American) version of the special
edition DVD, and I must say I'm well pleased to FINALLY be able to see
the many deleted scenes (completed too) and the alternate ending.

In the end, I think that Cameron was right to cut the alternate
(original) ending. It kinda played out hokey, the same with some of
Jack and Rose's superfluous scenes. The party scene worked much better,
than the shooting star scene immediately after.

I was however, very pleased and surprised to have been able to have
seen them all. The press kit was also interesting. The only thing I'm
upset about is that the North American/Paramount Zone 1 version does
not have the HBO First Look special.

Does anybody have any recommendations on which international version is
the best to get for this doc?

Very pleased.

I am not an expert on the International versions, but I believe the UK
Virgin Megastore-exclusive five-disc set is probably the best one to
track down. This set has everything that the UK four-disc set has
(including all of the parodies that can only be viewed via Easter Eggs
in the American version), it's limited edition and numbered, and it
inclused "Ghosts of the Abyss" as the fifth disc.

Is there a better International set than this one?

Hello!

I have purchased the US version of the Titanic Special Collectors
Edition yesterday.

Are there any English subtitles to the commentaries on Disk 1 and 2? I
could view the subtitles for the dialogue in the actual movie scenes,
but is it possible to view the commentary dialogue on the screen as
well (if at all)?

I am using Intervideo WinDVD 4.0 on a new Windows XP machine. Thanks!
The commentary subtitles would really help, since I am hearing
impaired.
